Better building performance

    text needed

When starting a new project, it can be challenging to account for every need. And as projects progress, changes often come. Specifications may change, and restraints such as time, cost and sourcing quality products can lead to inferior installations. Unfortunately, many of today’s buildings fail to deliver on their expected performance. What if you could better predict building performance throughout the value chain? Through improved digital modelling, we can predict time and resource needs throughout the building process, improve product design and provide lasting solutions for better urban living

    Our perspective

How we see better building performance

What does better-building performance really mean? For Wavin, it means enabling an efficient building process through BIM (Building Information Modelling) and prefabrication of solutions like underfloor heating customised to the space. And providing increased comfort through energy-efficient heating, cooling, ventilation, and noise reduction.

Enabling the actual performance of a building

BIM designed for the real world

Surprisingly, current digital modelling assets can allow you to design something that cannot be realistically manufactured or installed – for example, a pipe at an impractical angle. Poor software design like this is leading to last-minute specification changes, errors, project delays, and cost overruns. BIM utilising integrated intelligent assistance can provide a 100% accurate installation model of a pipe system.

Underfloor heating for more energy efficiency

With buildings consuming 40% of the world’s energy, it’s time to think in the most energy-efficient solutions to provide residents with the comfort they demand.

Underfloor heating distributes heat more evenly, reduces energy consumption and is a simple way to optimise a building’s energy performance.

    The people making it happen

Now, more than ever, the role of architects in delivering innovative, lasting building solutions – working alongside like-minded companies – are the way forward. Architects, like Duzan Doepel and his firm DoepelStrijkers understand this all too well. His team of innovative architects, design environments to support human resilience, health, and wellness while utilising lifecycle cost analysis to reduce consumption of energy and carbon.

In Rotterdam, DoepelStrijkers landmark Windwheel attraction will serve as a vertical solar park and a wind machine to harvest and store wind and solar power. Its circular water system will capture rainwater to water plants and flush the toilets and extract heat, nutrients and phosphates from sewage water. Its smart skin will feature a passive energy zone, allowing for the building to ventilate naturally.
