Solutions that lay the foundation for sustainable building and infrastructure

The construction industry has a critical role to play in building a sustainable future, but to do so it needs to embrace innovative sustainability solutions, now.   This includes creating infrastructure that supports access to safe drinking water, conserving energy when heating and cooling buildings and making cities more climate resilient. To reflect these and other challenges, we’re constantly developing our portfolio with new environmentally friendly construction solutions, all designed to help you address water challenges, drive down emissions and dial up sustainability.

Maximise sustainability performance with Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)

Scope 3 emissions are an important contributor to a development’s overall carbon footprint but measuring these can be difficult. EPDs simplify the process, enabling you to compare the environmental impact of different products and materials using transparent, third-party verified information on the environmental performance of a product or material over its lifetime.

Armed with this information, construction professionals can make more sustainable choices and accelerate progress to environmental building targets. That’s why we’re investing heavily in EPDs – working towards creating these for our entire portfolio of products.

To find out more about how EPDs are created and how they can boost sustainability on your next project, take a look at our dedicated webpage

    Safe and efficient water supply

Enhancing water sustainability requires greater resilience in our water infrastructure, along with changes to the way we utilize water, every day. To ensure this, our solutions are designed to: optimise source-to-tap distribution of clean drinking water, enable universal access to sanitation and hygiene via durable wastewater transport, create climate resilient infrastructure and improve building performance to maximise energy use.

    Better sanitation and hygiene

Achieving Net Zero within construction means tackling embodied carbon associated with the entire lifecycle of a building. That’s why we’ve developed long lasting sewer systems and inspection chambers that will serve the next generation and are consistently building our low-carbon, bio-based drainage systems to minimise their impact on the planet – including making these lighter for easier transportation.

Make cities climate resilient (Urban Climate Resilience)

Reducing pressure on water infrastructure is a key part of making cities more climate resilient. Our comprehensive range of rainwater management products address this need, with solutions that harvest rainwater, recharge groundwater, prevent flooding, greenify cities and protect urban biodiversity. They’re also low carbon and made from 100% recycled plastics.

    Optimise indoor climate solutions

Beyond construction, the operation of buildings is also important to their sustainability credentials. Prioritising indoor climate solutions that optimise energy consumption and use lower emission energy sources is a significant part of the sustainability puzzle. That’s why our specialised indoor climate solutions are optimised to save energy without compromising comfort.

    Optimise sustainability through digitalisation

Digitalisation is transforming sustainability initiatives across the construction sector. To optimise environmental performance and water use, we’re developing innovative digital services across: Integrated Building Performance, Smart Blue Green Infrastructure, Smart Urban Drainage and Water Distribution Services - using real-time data analytics to optimise performance.

Reporting on sustainability progress is measured and reported by our parent company Orbia.
