#SustainabilityInAction
Sustainability on paper alone is useless. We can only bring change by changing things. To get into action and start doing!
What is #SustainabilityInAction?
It’s more than just a hashtag - it's a call to action. We take practical, tangible steps to make a meaningful difference in advancing life around the world. We always focus on turning our theories and ideas into concrete actions and measure our success by results rather than intentions and initiatives alone. Even as we reach for the sky, our ambitions are meant to be grounded.
Discover what we’re already doing
Our actions have a significant global impact. No matter their size. We're doing things all over the world. Both big and small. But together they make an impact.
- The Wavin Take Back Service (in Germany, Colombia, Netherlands) collects and recycles used plastic pipes from contractors. Instead of being thrown away as construction waste, these pipes are gathered for recycling.
- We started creating product specific EPD’s on sku’s level as one of the firsts in the sector, to provide transparency on footprint calculations to our customers. We’re on track to have 100% of our portfolio (excluding third-party products) covered by 2025.
- We started using green energy and installing solar panels at our production sites. We believe in doing what we can now, because that's where change begins.
- We introduced and provided a range of bio-based products to proactively boost the growing demand for fossil-based alternatives.
How you can start taking action?
Your choices matter greatly in advancing life around the world. Opting for products and practices that save resources, last longer, and reduce waste is crucial. Let's work together even more closely. Implementing sustainable alternatives is key, and we're here to show you their many benefits. Scroll down to learn more about how we are putting Sustainability into Action.
Galapagos: sustainable water, brighter future
80% of land birds and 97% of reptiles and mammals on the Galapagos Islands are found nowhere else in the world. The islands are a remote and delicate ecosystem that has almost no fresh water sources. Plastigama Wavin worked in partnership with the Ecuador Water Security Coalition and Universidad San Francisco de Quito to create a closed loop water project that harvests rainwater and treats wastewater for reuse. Then, the water can be used for toilet services, irrigation and even drinking water.
