Orbia Building & Infrastructure’s (Wavin) commitment to a more sustainable future
At Orbia Building & Infrastructure (Wavin), sustainability is more than a goal—it’s part of how we do business. Our parent company Orbia recently released its 2024 Impact Report, showcasing our commitment to responsible and sustainable practices. We are proud to share highlights from this report, demonstrating the steps we’ve taken to build more resilient communities, reduce environmental impact, and drive circularity across our operations. Innovating for resilient communities
2024 was a year of innovation and impact. We expanded our solutions to help cities, businesses, and households better manage water, adapt to climate change, and reduce waste by promoting recycling. Here’s how:
✅ Collaborating for water positivity – Teaming up with Microsoft, we’re supporting its goal to become water-positive by 2030, using technology to reduce water loss and optimize urban water networks.
✅ Enhancing circularity – Our Vinyl in Motion program in Latin America now recycles over 530,000 kg of PVC waste per month, supporting the transition to a low carbon circular economy.
✅ Scaling up plastic recycling – We’ve expanded our plastic pipe collection and recycling services (Take-Back) to countries including the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, and Colombia, with plans to expand to more.
✅ Breakthrough with bio-based drinking water pipes in the Netherlands.
Innovative solutions
✅ Sustainable water management – We launched 100% circular attenuation and infiltration tanks, helping cities manage stormwater efficiently, reducing flood risks while lowering environmental impact.
Reducing Our Environmental Footprint
In 2024, we made great progress in reducing our environmental impact:
♻️ 94% of our sites achieved Zero Waste to Landfill, a major step toward eliminating unnecessary waste.
📉 We continued our commitment to reducing carbon emissions, achieving a 63% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to 2019. In doing so, we have not only met but also surpassed our 2030 carbon reduction target ahead of schedule
🌍 Our low-carbon product range has expanded, with a stronger focus on circular, bio-based, and recyclable materials.
🌞 With over 10,000 new solar panels installed across Mexico, the UK, and France, we are now running 100% on renewable energy in Europe, and 71% of our global operations are powered by renewable sources.
Stronger communities, safer workplaces
The safety of our employees, contractors and communities comes first. Last year, we strengthened health, safety, and community engagement:
👷 We rolled out several companywide Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) campaigns, expanded safety audits and ended the year with a TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) of 0.49.
💧 Time4Water campaign – To mark World Water Day, nearly 2,500 volunteers across 32 countries dedicated over 7,000 hours to water stewardship efforts.
