70 years of quality, united by global legacy
For seven decades, Wavin has been at the forefront of water and climate solutions. From pioneering plastic pressure pipes in Europe to building trusted partnerships across Latin America and beyond, our journey has been shaped by innovation and significant contributions from the local brands that form our global family.
Together, Wavin, Amanco, Plastigama, and Pavco have created a company that’s international in reach yet deeply rooted in local expertise and united by a shared purpose: to deliver sustainable, reliable infrastructure solutions that improve daily life for millions of people worldwide.
From Dutch ingenuity to European leadership
Wavin’s story begins in 1955 in Zwolle, the Netherlands, when founder Johan Keller produced the world’s first large-diameter plastic pressure pipes for potable water. At the time, Europe’s cities were struggling with corroding iron pipes that regularly leaked or failed. Keller’s breakthrough introduced a safer, more durable alternative and within a decade, Wavin became a trusted brand across Europe.
Growth in Europe
By the 1960s, we were expanding rapidly, opening factories in Germany, Denmark, Ireland and France, and setting up offices across Scandinavia and the UK. Wavin quickly became synonymous with quality and innovation, reflecting our vital role in phasing out iron and laying the groundwork for modern, efficient urban infrastructure.
Today, Wavin continues to be the go-to partner for building and municipal professionals across more than 25 European countries. Our high-performing water and climate solutions include Tegra sewer inspection chambers, Tigris pipes and fittings, Sentio climate controls and Hep2O push-fit plumbing systems—all backed by rigorous R&D, industry-leading (50-year) guarantees, ISO-certified processes, a strong commitment to sustainability and decades of professional trust.
However, our vision was always global. Over the years, leading regional brands joined and grew the Wavin family, building an international company that balances world-class innovation with local insight and expertise.
Amanco Wavin: Building trust across Latin America
A key member of the Wavin family, Amanco began its journey in 1961 in Mexico and Central America, quickly becoming a leader in PVC piping systems for construction, infrastructure, industry and agriculture. Guided by a strong culture of innovation, Amanco introduced PVC, CPVC and HDPE solutions that set new benchmarks for quality in the region.
Amanco's people-first approach
The brand forged forward into Argentina during the 1990s, and in 2006, it entered Brazil through the merger of Akros and Fortilit. From that point, Amanco became one of Brazil’s most recognized names in infrastructure, growing its brand recognition from just 13% in 2006 to an extraordinary 99% within 12 years.
Behind this success is a people-first approach. Amanco Wavin consistently invested in professional training, partnering with institutions like Senai in Brazil and launching the Amanco Wavin Academy in Mexico and Central America to certify thousands of installers, free of charge. Campaigns such as Avanza con Amanco Wavin reinforced plumbers as everyday heroes, while partnerships with cultural icons strengthened connections with local communities.
With product innovations such as PPR, Silentium, Novafort, Biax and QuickStream , Amanco Wavin is both a household name and a trusted partner for professionals building the cities of tomorrow.
Plastigama Wavin: Ecuador’s trusted water solutions leader
Another vital partner, Plastigama Wavin, has been synonymous with quality water solutions in Ecuador for over 67 years. Founded in 1958, Plastigama was the first local manufacturer of plastic pipes and the first to earn the prestigious INEN quality seal. Since then, led by a passionate, dedicated and experienced team, it has achieved over 25 national and international certifications, making it one of the country’s most trusted names in construction and a benchmark of process excellence for the sector.
Plastigama's sustainability achievements
Plastigama Wavin’s impact extends far beyond technical leadership. Its WASH programs have provided safe drinking water and hygiene education to more than 13,000 people in vulnerable communities, while partnerships with organizations like UNICEF and Fundación TECHO reinforce its commitment to social progress. Since 2021, Plastigama Wavin has also actively participated in the Ecuador Zero Carbon Program, achieving a cumulative 16% reduction in its carbon footprint since its base year of 2019. And, in 2025, Plastigama Wavin was recognized again at the EKOS ESG Sustainability Summit and received the “Sustainability Visionary” award for its pioneering work in aquifer recharge, flood control and greenhouse gas reduction.
With innovations like AquaCell stormwater management systems and Biotanks for safe sanitation, Plastigama Wavin is helping Ecuador build resilient and sustainable infrastructure. Customers consistently praise the brand’s exceptional product quality and service, reinforcing its reputation as a water solutions leader.
Pavco Wavin: Driving progress in Colombia and Peru
Pavco Wavin rounds off our Wavin family story. Founded in Colombia in 1962 and expanding to Peru in 1997, Pavco is a well-established pillar of water innovation and improvement in Latin America. Today, its three major plants in Colombia produce nearly 19 million pipes annually, while its Peruvian facilities in Lima and Arequipa make it a leader in that country’s construction sector.
Pavco and the professional plumber
Pavco Wavin is more than a manufacturer—it’s an educator and community partner. In Colombia, its Plomero Profesional program has trained over 10,000 plumbers, and in Peru, its Club de la Gasfitería has supported over 14,000 installers. Both initiatives reflect Pavco Wavin’s belief that skilled professionals are at the heart of reliable water infrastructure and have contributed to its impressive 22% market share.
The company is also a regional leader in sustainability, investing in solar projects, LED plant upgrades, circular economy programs and inclusive employment initiatives, which earned it the “Empresa Incluyente” seal. In 2025, Pavco Wavin opened the T&I Lab for the Americas in Colombia—a dedicated hub for technology and innovation to evolve and deliver locally driven, expert solutions across the region.
One global company, uniting many local legacies
Wavin’s strength today has two foundations: our history of innovation and the legacy and expertise of the brands that have joined us along the way. Each of these brands contributes deep roots in its local market, strong relationships with professionals, and a proven track record of delivering solutions that stand the test of time.
Together, Wavin, Amanco, Plastigama and Pavco form a truly global company that combines the reach and resources of an international leader with the agility and insight of trusted local partners. This synergy enables us to offer consistent quality, world-class technical support and certified, sustainable solutions tailored to local needs.
For our customers, this means confidence in three valuable ways. Confidence that the systems we deliver will perform for generations. Confidence that our solutions will help them meet new regulatory and environmental challenges. And confidence that wherever they are in the world, Wavin will be at their side—building better, more sustainable environments to help people and communities thrive.
