How we’re minimising our environmental impact
With production facilities in over 40 countries, Orbia Building & Infrastructure (Wavin) is ideally placed to promote environmentally friendly construction initiatives and drive sustainable development worldwide. To harness this opportunity, we’ve set ambitious, targeted environmental goals to reduce our carbon footprint and have positive environmental impact. These focus on three key areas of sustainability – emissions, waste and water – and include Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWTL), achieving Net Zero by 2050 and driving Scope 1 and 2 emissions down by 47% by 2030.
Tackling emissions
To ensure these goals become reality, we’re reducing CO₂ emissions across our operations by:
using 100% renewable energy in all European facilities
installing solar panels at all suitable sites globally
transitioning to a 100% sustainable car fleet
converting sites to LED lighting, improving efficiency by up to 75%
working towards procuring sustainable energy with zero emissions for all operations
regularly optimising logistical operations.

Sustainable change
Prioritising meaningful, sustainable change means the speed of progress towards environmental goals differs around the world, but our commitment and goals apply universally. Pilot projects are constantly being developed at our sites around the world, and as these are refined and tested, they become blueprints for other regions. As our zero-emissions logistical hub demonstrates, with each successful sustainability initiative, the momentum behind our drive to Net Zero increases.

Minimising waste
Reducing waste has the dual sustainability benefit of minimising pollution while also conserving resources. To achieve Zero Waste to Landfill, we’re mapping and minimising waste streams across all our operations. We’re also committed to eliminating plastic resin loss into the environment, working with Operation Clean Sweep to develop a three-step action plan that will enable zero pellet loss globally. And we’re continually innovating to make our packaging as minimal and environmentally friendly as possible – including reusable packaging and sustainable materials.
Conserving water
Responsible, sustainable use of water is vital to ensure a reliable water supply now and in the future.
To protect both people and the planet, we aim to have a water net positive impact, starting by working with communities around the world to address their water challenges. From here, annual improvement targets help to optimise our operational water efficiency, while water / climate risk assessments also identify and minimise water-related impacts like water stress, water-based political challenges and disruptions to water quantity and quality.
