Wavin's Take Back Service: turning used pipes into new products globally

Wavin is introducing a recycling and collection service for used plastic pipes: the Wavin Take-Back Service. This global initiative aims to collect and recycle used plastic pipes from contractors, transforming what would typically be construction waste into valuable circular raw materials.

    Wavin Take-Back service in action

The Take Back Service is currently operational in several countries, including Germany, Colombia, the Netherlands and Sweden. Instead of ending up in incineration facilities and being burned for energy recovery, these pipes are given a new life through recycling. The Take Back service offers a simple and economically attractive way for contractors to recycle and contribute to significant CO2 emission savings.

    How It Works

    1. Collection: Contractors can either have their used pipes collected by Wavin or bring them to designated recycling points.
    2. Recycling: The collected pipes are processed and recycled into raw materials that meet the requirements of Wavin.
    3. New products: These recycled materials are then used to create new Wavin products. Wavin offers a dedicated portfolio of low-carbon products (e.g., made with circular raw materials): pipes, fittings, road gullies, rainwater infiltration units, etc. Please contact your local Wavin representative to explore the portfolio available in your country.

    Environmental Impact

This service can contribute significantly to your sustainability goals. By recycling used pipes, and encouraging the market to adopt more low-carbon construction materials, we all reduce the demand for virgin plastics, minimize waste in the construction industry, and accelerate in the transition from virgin to circular raw materials. From LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) studies, we have learned that a product produced with 100% circular raw material can save up to 80% in CO2 emissions. By adopting the Wavin Take-Back service, companies can contribute to this transition.

    Commitment to circularity

Wavin's commitment to a circular economy is evident through initiatives like the Take-Back service. To see this innovative program in action and understand its potential impact on the construction industry, we encourage you to watch our Take-Back service video. It showcases how Wavin is turning sustainable thinking into tangible action, driving real change in the industry: sustainability in action. By participating in this program, you're not just disposing of waste; you're actively contributing to a more sustainable future in construction.
